Yuuto can teleport as soon as he finishes packing her gift in a bag. He appears at the door and takes a second to collect himself, then knocks lightly.]
[Oh, well. That was fast! Fast enough that Kanade doesn't have time to freshen up. So when the front door opens, Yuuto will see Kanade - track jacket rumpled and hair oddly mussed, almost like she's been sitting on some of it. The shadows under her eyes are a bit darker than they were the last time he saw her, and she has to squint for a moment in the sunlight, but her smile is soft and genuine as she steps aside to let him in.]
A-Ah, sorry, I should have expected that... do you want me to get you something to drink?
To be precise, Yuuto is noticing the dark circles under her eyes. He’s gotten used to seeing people that he loves with such tired looks… Can he really leave when he sees her like this?
Yuuto bows before entering.]
Oh- Please, don’t worry about me. I don’t need to stay for long if you’re busy…
[But should… he..?? His instinct is to stay and try to help. To at least worry about her and show her that she’s loved and can ask for help.
[Kanade takes the scarf and just sort of... stares at it. She holds it in her hands like he just gave her something priceless, something made of the finest silk; one thumb runs across the soft wool, over every little stitch, and she's careful to not unfurl it enough that it drags on the ground.]
[The way that she reacts gradually draws a smile from him. It’s familiar: So much like the way that he reacted to seeing the scarf that Ryoko had made for him. And in some ways, that worries him… Is Kanade really so surprised? Didn’t she know that people would want to make her a present? Surely she doesn’t also suffer from self-worth issues.
He nods to her question.]
Yes! You’re always visiting the shrine and you’re working so hard… So please, stay warm. Or else you’ll catch a cold. I think.
[It's not as if Kanade's been neglected or anything; she has her friends that make up Niigo. She has Honami. She has her grandmother. These people care for her. Her grandmother makes sure there's someone to check in on her, Honami makes homemade meals so she has more to eat than just cup ramen, Ena and Mizuki and Mafuyu give her a reason to go outside for reasons other than picking up necessities she can't get through ordering online.
... But it's another thing entirely, to accept something like this. To have full physical proof that someone cares for her. For someone who believes she was cursed, and has only ever hurt one of the most important people in her life... it's a lot.
So when she smiles, even with her ruffled hair and the bags under her eyes, there's a light there. A light that doesn't often shine.]
... Yeah, I will. This looks like it'll keep me nice and warm.
[And to prove it, she reaches up and winds it around her neck a few times. It's long enough and her shoulders are slim enough that she can drape it across them as well, so that it looks almost more like a shawl than a scarf.]
[He’s embarrassed to see her wearing it. For years— decades, even,— Yuuto has wanted to knit winter scarves for people. Now he gets to make so many of them and even see them being worn… and he gets to be thanked. These people see him and don’t curse him for existing.
It feels nice.
His smile is almost stupidly big as he laughs and nods.]
It looks good on you! And it’ll hold you over for a little while.
[At least until Asahina makes her a scarf—- Because Yuuto trusts that she will! As happy as giving these scarves away makes him, it’s bittersweet. He knows that they’re just replacements for the scarves from people his friends really love. Kanade will have a better scarf soon and his will be replaced.
He banishes those thoughts from his expression or words, but his belt does seem to become heavier.]
Um… Is yours coming along okay? Do you have all of the materials that you need..?
[Kanade's expressions are often so muted, with only the smallest shifts on her face cluing others in to whether she's happy or sad or whatever else. But it's the little things - the way her shoulders relax, the way her brows aren't as tightly knit together - that manage to shine through, to prove that at least in this moment, she genuinely seems happy.
Ah, but his comment... Kanade looks over her shoulder, in the direction of a hallway that leads deeper into the house, almost as if she's listening to tell if anyone is moving around. After a moment of silence, she speaks.]
I did. I picked out some nice colors the first time I went to the store, but... then the incident with the spirits dropping yarn everywhere happened. So I decided to make Mafuyu's scarf out of that yarn, so it's a little extra special.
[More and more often it seemed like Mafuyu was trying to seek out warmth, so... it's appropriate, to give her something that would keep her extra warm, right?]

i can make time for you
[She always will, for her friends.]
... oh
yes. of course
[And below that is the address to the house where all the members of Niigo have been staying.]

[Literally.

You live like this???

That would be an empty offer right now.]
Here. I made you something.
no subject
Like I said, I don't mind. Really.
[Ah, but... she looks surprised at that.]
You... made something for me? What is it?
no subject
Mafuyu is here too. Whatever Kanade is going through, he has to trust that those two will get through it together.
For now, he hands off the gift: A handmade scarf made of grey and blue yarn. It’s meant to be long like her hair.]
I’m sure that someone else will make you a nicer one, but until then… Please stay warm, Kanade-san.

Oh...
[Her hands curl, holding tight onto the scarf.]
... You really made this for me?

He nods to her question.]
Yes! You’re always visiting the shrine and you’re working so hard… So please, stay warm. Or else you’ll catch a cold. I think.
[He doesn’t actually understand getting sick.]

You picked very good colors, too. It's perfect.
